ABOUT
Tech Startup HOKURIKU (TeSH) is a startup ecosystem platform dedicated to fostering university- and technical college-originated startups in the Hokuriku region. Led by the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and Kanazawa University, TeSH brings together 14 universities and three technical colleges across the three Hokuriku prefectures.
TeSH aims to significantly enhance both the quality and quantity of startups emerging from universities and technical colleges in the region. By nurturing globally competitive new industries and future publicly listed companies, TeSH seeks to revitalize the regional economy, generate demand for highly skilled talent, encourage capital investment, and help address regional social challenges.

PROGRAM
The Startup Ecosystem Co-Creation Program supports the development of ecosystems that foster the continuous creation of university- and technical college-originated startups. The program seeks to identify and nurture promising technologies and innovations from across Japan, strengthen initiatives that promote startup creation and expansion into global markets, and establish sustainable ecosystems in which talent, knowledge, and capital circulate while the network of participating institutions continues to grow.
TeSH, proposed by 12 universities and three technical colleges in the Hokuriku region, was selected as one of two regional platforms under the Regional Platform Co-Creation Support initiative launched in FY2023 as part of the Startup Ecosystem Co-Creation Program.
The GAP Fund Program, supported by the Startup Ecosystem Co-Creation Program, has two funding stages. STEP 1 supports applied research, from application exploration to the stage immediately preceding proof of concept (PoC). STEP 2 supports activities from PoC through startup creation and commercialization.
Logo Design Concept
Inspired by the initial "T" of TeSH (Tech Startup HOKURIKU), the logo symbolizes the collaboration and unity of the three Hokuriku prefectures and embodies the spirit of startups embarking on new journeys, propelled by the wind in their sails.
Color symbolism
▷Red = Human potential and talent
▷Yellow (Gold) = Tradition, safety, and well-being
▷Blue = Knowledge and technological capability
